In a strategic move to bolster her City Council campaign, Queens District 28 candidate Latoya LeGrand made a significant appearance at the Guy R. Brewer United Democratic Club’s Annual Holiday party on Saturday, December 15th, networking with some of New York City’s most prominent Democratic leaders.

The event, held against the backdrop of a critical upcoming election cycle, saw LeGrand rubbing shoulders with key political figures including New York Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. Her presence at this high-profile gathering signals a robust commitment to building political momentum for her Spring 2025 campaign.

LeGrand is positioning herself to succeed current Councilwoman Adrienne E. Adams, who is terming out of the District 28 seat. The upcoming election represents a critical opportunity for Democrats to maintain their local political representation in an increasingly competitive electoral landscape.

The holiday party provided an ideal platform for LeGrand to showcase her political acumen and solidify connections within the local Democratic establishment. By engaging directly with influential party leaders, she is laying the groundwork for a formidable campaign strategy.

As the political season heats up, LeGrand’s strategic networking and visible presence at key Democratic events underscore her ambition and determination to secure the City Council seat.

Queens, NY – Earlier this week, Latoya LeGrand, the City Council candidate for District 28 in Queens, visited the Robert Couche Senior Center to hear directly from her senior citizen constituents, many of whom are veterans. LeGrand, who is running in the Spring 2025 election, made the trip to the senior center to listen to the needs and concerns of the community’s older adult population.

“Our senior citizens, especially our veterans, have dedicated their lives to serving our country and community,” said LeGrand. “It’s crucial that I hear directly from them about the issues they’re facing so I can be their voice on the City Council and fight for the resources and support they deserve.”

During the visit, LeGrand met with several seniors, many of them military veterans, to discuss a range of topics important to the older adult community. Key issues raised included access to affordable healthcare and prescription drugs, food insecurity, transportation challenges, and the need for more programming and activities at the senior center.

“So many of our seniors, particularly those who served in the armed forces, are struggling to make ends meet and access the care and services they need,” LeGrand observed. “As your City Council member, I will be a fierce advocate for our senior citizens and veterans to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.”

LeGrand pledged to work closely with the senior center’s staff and leadership to identify ways the City can provide additional support and resources. She also invited the seniors to continue sharing their concerns with her as she campaigns for the District 28 City Council seat.

The visit to the Robert Couche Senior Center is part of LeGrand’s broader effort to connect with all segments of the diverse District 28 community ahead of the 2025 election. With a large population of seniors and veterans, engaging this constituency is a top priority for the candidate.

“Our seniors built this community, and they deserve to live out their golden years with dignity, respect, and access to the services and support they need,” said LeGrand. “I’m honored to meet with them, listen to their concerns, and pledged to be their champion on the City Council.”
